Join us in collaboration with MT Harvest Moon! In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the art of Raku, a traditional Japanese firing technique known for its dramatic results and unpredictable outcomes.
The highlight of the workshop is the exhilarating Raku firing process, where red-hot pottery is removed from the kiln and placed into combustible materials, such as sawdust, to create stunning surface effects. Experience the thrill of the flames as they dance around your pottery, transforming it into a work of art right before your eyes.
As you delve into the world of Raku, you'll have the opportunity to experiment with different glazes, techniques, and firing methods, allowing for endless creative expression and exploration. Whether you're a seasoned ceramic artist or a curious beginner, this workshop offers a dynamic and inspiring environment to learn, create, and connect with the ancient tradition of Raku pottery.
Either bring your own Bisque-ware (cone 04-10) or you can purchase work from the studio for an extra fee. Please contact MT Harvest Moon in advance if you are planning on purchasing work to fire. Email Amy at montanaharvestmoon@gmail.com with any questions!
All are welcome - $5.00 of each attendee’s fee goes directly to support The Making Place MT !
